6 effective ways to keep fit and stay healthy

how to keep fit and stay healthy

What’s the true meaning of keep fit and stay healthy?

The first thing most people will think about when it comes to keeping fit and staying is:

  • Eating healthy is to  diet
  • Keep fit is to lose weight

Eating healthy is not dieting

To most people the term “eating healthy” is some sort of 2 weeks or a month  dieting program that  is going to make them lose weight quickly, and when that period is over, they go back to their old ways.

Or maybe eat as little as possible or don’t eat certain foods to maintain their weight for a while, and after a certain period of time they start to crave those foods and gradually the old and bad habits come back and find themselves back to square one.

Dieting and preventing yourself from eating certain foods is a vicious cycle that will never end regardless how many times you try it.

Yes, you will lose weight and drop few sizes, that’s all great, but why do you gain those pounds back and feel like you never accomplished anything? So, stop dieting and even stop thinking about the word diet itself.

The word diet is very uninspiring and it means limiting yourself and not living life to the fullest and ultimately, it’s not a lifestyle change.

Keeping fit is not about losing weight and counting calories, period.

stayfitandhealthyLike I said keeping fit was never meant to be about losing weight, dieting and starving yourself. keeping fit and exercising  is about maintaining and living a healthy lifestyle.

Keeping fit is a mental and physical health and well-being. (7 easy ways to keep yourself motivated to workout)

Keeping fit and working out is not running on  a treadmill for an hour or doing one repetitive movement to burn few calories.

Healthy eating and being fit is a lifetime commitment that should last a lifetime. That’s the true meaning of  staying and being fit and healthy.

Stop looking for a quick fix

People who are looking for a quick fix are not serious about their health or not focused and don’t have a long-term plan to reach their fitness and health goals.

To understand the true meaning of keeping fit and staying healthy is to stop thinking about a quick fix and tell yourself that this is a lifetime commitment that gradually will change your mental and physical life for the better.

Simple Steps to How to keep fit and stay healthy

healthy lifestyleI’m not going to talk about how many glasses of water you need to drink and how many hours you should sleep or what type of exercises you need to do.

Despite that, all of these are so important and it’ll be foolish to dismiss them, but they are not the main reason to keeping fit and living a healthy lifestyle. Because you will do them naturally when you are committed to a new healthy lifestyle.

1. Use a Blender

Using a blender is very easy and a smart way to consume things that you don’t have time to eat or you don’t like the taste, particularly first thing in the morning. I know a lot of people don’t like to eat in the morning and they prefer to drink their cup of coffee instead.

What I would suggest is that you drink your smoothie and then your coffee and after a while you will see that you have so much energy in the morning from drinking smoothies, that you gradually stop drinking coffee.

You can mix anything in a blender from fiber-rich vegetables and fruits to protein-rich foods like yogurt, nuts and seeds.

2. Cook and bake the food yourself

cook and bake at homeI think it is very important that you start cooking for yourself. We all know that home-made food is much healthier and tastes so much better than anything you buy that is ready made.

If you don’t know how to cook start with simple meals that require 2-3 ingredients. For example, chicken breast and pasta are very easy to cook. If you don’t have time to cook every day, then cook large portions every 3-4 days and freeze them. This will save you time, money and most importantly your health and well-being.

3. Eat and drink everything in moderation

What I really mean by this is that don’t restrict you, because it will become a diet plan, and that’s the last thing we want it to be. Eat fast food once a week, drink coffee once or twice a day if you are a heavy drinker and gradually cut the caffeine.

The whole point is to trick your body to stop craving these foods and beverages gradually, so you don’t eat and drink them all the time. I know this is a slow progress, and it will take time for you to see results, but this is the only way to stay fit and healthy.

4. Do exercises that you enjoy and love

do exercises that you loveIt’s been proven time and time again that if you don’t do something that you enjoy doing and looking forward to, you will never stick to it. That’s true when it comes to exercising and keeping fit, and the types of exercises you do.

Rule number 1 when it comes to exercising, mix it up. Don’t just do cardio or  weight lifting or yoga.

It’s very important to do them all but on separate days. There are lots of exercising programs that combine the various workouts. This will help you work your whole body in one hour or so.

Here’s a list of different exercising programs what you might consider:

  1. Martial Arts classes, like kickboxing, Jitsu etc…
  2. TRX workouts
  3. Strengthening yoga workouts
  4. If you don’t like to go the gym, then try Beachbody workouts or online workouts that you can try at home

5.
Don’t buy exercising equipment that promises you wonders

The last thing you want to do is to go out and buy an elliptical or some weird-looking thing that promises eight packs, or you are going to drop few sizes in no time.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they are lying or they are trying to trick you, all I’m saying is that these pieces of equipment are  going to work one part of your body. (Ironmaster Quick Lock Dumbells review)

They are very repetitive and that means, the exercise becomes boring, uninspiring and less motivating over time. More importantly, your body reaches a plateau. This will make you stop exercising after a while.

6. Don’t be afraid to try different things in life

The last thing I would like to say is that don’t be afraid to try different things especially when it comes to your health and fitness, remember that your body will respond to you as long as you continue to take care of it! (5 amazing health benefits of Kefir)
